Learning Test SystemsHoleboard SystemLearning & memory test system for mice SDI’s Holeboard system is a fully automated spatial learning/memory system that can be used for testing an animal’s reactions to food rewards based on varying conditions. The SDI rotational Holeboard has been successfully used in investigating the influence of a variety of experimental manipulations on spatial learning and memory in mice. In particular, the SDI Holeboard has been used to show the acute effects of low doses of MK-801 and the chronic effects of MK-801. The rotating Holeboard system is a rectangular, open-field with four holes arranged in a four corner configuration in the floor of the test enclosure. A mouse is trained to poke its head into a ‘baited’ hole to retrieve a food reward on every trial. Each hole contains food which is made inaccessible to the animal by a screen placed over the hole. The Holeboard apparatus rests on a turntable for easy rotation to eliminate reliance on proximal cues (e.g. odor trails). Holeboard Features
