Activity test systems

Rotometer Activity System

Test for Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries in up to 16 enclosures

SDI’s Rotometer Photobeam Activity System is a fully automated system that counts clockwise, counter-clockwise rotations in animal activity studies. Rotometer has been widely used in PD - Parkinson’s disease research and for other motor assessment tests. Rotometer is also used in TBI - traumatic brain injury research, acquired brain injury research, spinal cord injury research.

The SDI Rotometer system is available with full-turn or quarter-turn options. The system automatically stores all rotation counts for each interval with time and date of test and complete subject identifiers. Each enclosure in the Rotometer system has a diagnostics display screen to confirm the functioning of the rotation counters to ensure the system is operating properly before testing begins. The Test-in-Progress screen allows you to monitor the ongoing activity during testing. Elapsed time-in-session and activity counts are displayed continuously for each enclosure. Session counts are cumulative - interval counts are set to zero at the end of each interval.

Rotometer conveniently stores all details relating to a Session in a Microsoft Access database. Having all the related data together makes aggregation and analysis significantly more convenient. Among the benefits of the integration between Rotometer and the popular and widely-used MS Office database system are: One Touch Exporting to Stats Packages, Data Kept Together, Clearly Identified Columns, Powerful Query Functions, Powerful Reporting Functions, and Seamless Integration with MS Excel.
